Hugoton Middle School has had a great month when it comes to staff being recognized for all of the great things that they do in our district. I wanted to take a minute to write a short letter recognizing these two individuals and their accomplishments.
Mrs. Nordyke along with her family, Mr. Howie and myself all got to attend the Kansas Teacher of the Year Region 1 banquet on September 8th in Salina. It was a very nice ceremony in which Mrs. Nordyke was acknowledged for being selected as the USD 210 Secondary Teacher of the year for 2018. Mrs. Nordyke wears multiple hats in both the middle school and high school and does a great job in working with our students. She is the middle school Read 180 teacher and Keyboarding teacher. Then at the middle school and high school level she is our ESL teacher and is in charge that program. Mrs. Nordyke works tirelessly to make sure all of her students have what they need to be successful. We are very proud of Mrs. Nordyke and are lucky to have her in our building.
Mrs. Gaskill was also recognized this month as the Eagle Impact award winner. This is an award that is handed out to USD 210 employees who have been nominated by other employees of the district for their commitment and dedication to our students and staff. Mrs. Gaskill has worked tirelessly through the summer and the start of the year to get our new UnPlugged program off and running at HMS and HHS and has it working great for our students and staff. Mrs. Gaskill will jump in and help anywhere that she is needed and does so much for both our students and staff. Congratulations Mrs. Gaskill on the recognition and thank you for everything that you do.
